    About this project

    m. wagner from buildCollective NPO is responsible for this project
Collective reflection for participants and supporters from Europe and South Africa through the audio-visual documentation and presentation of the project `bridigingMzamba´ in Eastern Cape, South Africa.

The community driven project bridgingMzamba originated in the urgent need of and request by surrounding inhabitants for a safe crossing of the Mzamba River and included design and implementation of a 140 Meter long pedestrian suspension bridge in a collaborative manner.

The documentation of the exceptional 3 year long journey of development with volunteers and community members will give great inspiration and knowledge to communities, young architects and activists.
Screenings in South Africa and Europe will further support the idea of cultural exchange and knowledge production. - A common vision and joint forces can overcome all obstacles !

Material filmed free of charge by cinematographers Kay Gertler and Hadrien Clair as well as photographic material by participants will serve as a base for the documentation to be rereleased in late spring 2016.
As a low budget project all costs are carried by personal contribution and donations.

Please support us in the capturing of memory, creation of heritage, pride and responsibility, inspiring people in the South and North to be active participants able to shape their environment.

The documentation (about 30 min) will show diverse challenges faced in the process from project set up, interdisciplinary and cross-cultural collaboration to design and technology of actual construction. Addressing the question of how to implement life-saving infrastructure where formal systems are failing.
