About this project
A study survey carried out by KV Okolo et al. at UNICEF primary School Oraifite showed that of the 462 pupils tested for infection, 220 pupils (i.e 47.6%) had parasitic infection (Tropical Journal of Health Sciences Vol. 18, Pg 1-3). The condition of toilets in Oraifite schools are in pitiable states and most of them are dilapidated. The students sometimes defeacate in open fields and in nearby bush. This problem pose a significant health hazard to the school children. Ndujekwu Enwena Europe (NEE) e.V plan is to build toilet facilities in these schools in order to improve health and sanitory conditions as well as reduce the incidence of feacal infections.
The project will be realised via effort from NEE with the chief and voluntary workers from the community. The construction cost will be reasonable, the resources needed include the following: WC toilet seats and fittings, washing hand basins, windows and doors, roofing materials, drilling of bore hole for water supply, paints.
