About this project

On Saturday 17. October 2015 the first session took place bringing together 12 women from Syria, Germany, Morocco and UK. Some women only arrived in Berlin a few weeks ago and are still in the emergency accommodation (where I have volunteered), others we got to know through the Syrian biking group in Berlin. Everyone was enthusiastic to learn and get to know new people. Many miracles occurred that day and it is safe to say that everyone - volunteers and learners - had a fantastic time. So much so that we have more dates in the calendar for lessons up to mid November.
So now our ladies are practicing on our bikes, but what we need now are the right sized bikes plus helmets, locks and safety gear. Cycling is a great way to get around in Berlin - cheap, emission free and a great way to keep fit! So as a friend of the earth who believes in green peace I would love to encourage these ladies to get on their bikes!
Coincidentally, I have a big birthday coming up and am therefore requesting anyone who would like to get me a present, to please donate something big or small to this project. Or just pass this on to your rich philanthropic friends. Thank you so much!

PS Anyone in Berlin who wants to donate any old bikes (especially size 26!) or cycling gear please get in touch! Thanks
