    About this project

    J. Kallergi from F.O.ST.E.R now! is responsible for this project
F.O.ST.E.R. now! is struggling to rescue strays amidst a horrible financial crisis
We are a registered Animal Welfare Organisation dedicated to rescue stray dogs and cats in Athens, Greece.

Since 2010 we have rescued, fostered, cured and rehomed more than a thousand stray cats and dogs whose fate in the streets would have been fatal otherwise.
Five years now Greece has been suffering an unprecedented financial crisis causing a recession even worse than the one the USA experienced in 1930's

Due to the great unemployment rates we initialized the idea of solidarity fostering which led to giving a chance to unemployed people to offer to foster a stray pet at home and be paid a monthly fee for the care they provide.

Ms Yanna, for example, was hit by the severe financial crisis and finding a job at her age is absolutely not possible. By fostering our strays at a monthly fee she can make ends meet and support her family through these difficult times.

The animal plight behind a huge humanitarian crisis
However, the deep financial recession has led to such a humanitarian crisis that the donations for an anmal rescue organisation have been reduced to zero.

Our pleas to cover the costs for the food, the medication and the fostering costs for our rescued strays cannot find respond in a country that everyone struggles to survive for their everyday personal needs.

This has resulted in huge debts for veterinary services and to the unemployed people who are hired to offer a foster home to our strays .

We urge you to listen to the plea of the voiceless victims of the stray dogs and cats suffering amidst this horrible financial crisis and support us to pay for their veterinary costs and shelter so that we can go on with our mission to rescue and give home to the homeless dogs and cats in Greece.

Your contribution will enable us to CONTINUE our difficult task to give hope to these voicelss victims but also to support unemployed people by providing them with a mothly fee for exchange for their fostering a stray animal.

    What we need
We need to cover the huge debts incurred due to the plethora of strays we have rescued, which prevents us to rescue NEW ones.
    Your contributions will cover:
    1) veterinary costs such as vaccinations, blood tests, medications and castrations we have already undertaken and we owe to our vets and future ones
    2) shelter costs which is the fee we give to unemployed people that provide a shelter to stay dos and cats in ther homes
    3) operational costs such as the ACCOUNTANT fees we still owe and the taxation that the goverment has impemented even to the non profits under the emergency the financial crisis has inflicted.
