About this project

D. Vancoppernolle from Dyadis asbl is responsible for this project
Dyadis trains assistance dogs and gives them free of charge to people with disabilities in Belgium. The assistance dog will help the disabled person with countless daily tasks: opening and closing doors, picking up items fallen on the ground and returning them to the person in a wheelchair. The dyadis dog brings a comforting presence of a faithful and friendly companion. He breaks the feeling of isolation and opens doors to the outside world. To achieve this Dyadis selects puppies from the Golden and Labrador Retriever family. The puppies begin their specialised training when they are 8 weeks old and will complete their training 24 months later in the Dyadis traing center. The persons with a disability will learn how to work with an assistance dog during a coaching session of two weekes. Afterwards Dyadis will do the follow up of the teams during their time together. With this wonderful companion at their side a new life begins for the child, teenager or adult with a physical disability.
The cost of an assistance dog covers the expenses from the purchase of the puppy and the entire process explained here above. This cost is estimated at 17.500 euro. Dyadis trains, places these amazing dogs and does the follow up, free of charge and raises all necessary funding. Every donation, small or big, helps to bring an assistance dog closer to a disabled person.
