    About this project

Andrea V. from ? is responsible for this project
Amon studies physics at Humboldt University Berlin.
Last fall he was diagnosed with a glioblastoma. The tumor lay so favorable that he could be operated in November 2014. Unfortunately, he suffered a stroke under the operation and was paralyzed on one side. Meanwhile, Amon has recovered strongly with incredible energy and discipline of these misfortunes. He can walk again, cycles, plays music and lives an independent life.
He was throughout under medical treatment and has completed all common processes of cancer. (i.e. radiation and chemotherapy)
Unfortunately, a relapse (renewed tumor) was seen in his last MRI now. The problem in treating of brain tumors is, that effective drugs cannot pass the blood-brain barrier (BBB). Therefore, this type of tumor is particularly difficult to treat.

Amon is only 26 years of age and apart from the cancer, in very good condition, as one can seen from the current image. Therefore, it is important and necessary to continue the treatment right away.

Amon has a very loving and dedicated family at his side. His mother has now found an alternative treatment method in which a cocktail of different approved drugs is administered, but these are not officially against brain tumors. Among the participants of this treatment method, there are already long-term survivors. But still -- this method has not yet been approved, but is carried out under the supervision of physicians in private practice.

The problem is that the drugs are indeed allowed, but for other diseases, thus the costs are not covered by health insurance.
The drug costs per month are around 2000 euro and the treatment should be performed at least 1 year. This will result in a total cost of about 24000-25000 euro. Amon studies and has almost no income so he's basically financed by his mother. Now his mother has been retired recently, which makes funding this treatment very difficult.
More info about the treatment can be found at:

Now you ask yourselves why I do this project -- Of course, out of pure self-interest. ;)
I work in the examination office of the Institute of Physics at HU (www.hu-berlin.de). We have become friends over the years of his studies and like to play chess together. Whereby my chess skills are still very upgradeable. Our games are always very funny, for example, the dispute over rules or which moves a horse is allowed to do and so on.
Please help us, so I do not lose my super chess teacher and one day may Chess-technically trudge him into the ground - you see, pure selfishness.

Please give Amon the chance to a full, long and happy life with your donation.

If more money should be donated than is required for the treatment, it will be donated to betterplace.org.
