Support for the Student Project to Cook Daily Meals in Hamburg, St. Pauli

    Stiftung Kinderjahre
A project from Stiftung Kinderjahre in Hamburg, Germany
Education at school does not have to pause at lunch-break. Preparing meals for the entire school is a big task for one class each day. Students learn about nutrition in the most practical way. Propper manners at the table are a welcome side effect.

    About this project

    H. Lay from Stiftung Kinderjahre is responsible for this project
Lunch is so much more than just eating.

That is why we aim to collect 30,000€ of donations for each of the next three years. Costs for each student need to remain affordable for parents who live around the school in socially disadvantaged areas on the city.

Embedding nutrition in the broader daily schedule, when one class assists two professionals in the field of home economics with the preparation of food for the school. Spending regularly time together for the meal strenghtens the community and also educates students in forms and good manners. This project’s approach gives students the opportunity to participate in a sustainable matter. Their longterm benefit is obvious.

In 2014 approximately 35,000 servings were prepared at the learning kitchen attached to the school’s dining-hall.
