About this project

We believe that we can make a change here! At our centre, we give afternoon English lessons, help students with projects and homework, have a library, give basic computer training, have free internet access and offer teachers advice regarding lesson material. We, ourselves, teach at schools as well as supply free international volunteer teachers to the schools who teach English, Maths and Science. We accommodate and cater for the volunteer teachers during their stay with us. It is of great importance for our project to maintain and expand our volunteer programme, since a shortage of teachers at the regional schools leads to them not being qualified to teach the subject they teach. Also, English is not the home language of the teachers yet the school curriculum is in English. The volunteer teachers have a high impact on the improvement of school lessons and apply modern and communicative teaching methods, resulting in a positive impact on the students' learning behaviour. Additionally, the local students benefit tremendously from the cultural exchange with the international volunteers at our education centre, whereby they automatically improve their English language skills.
In order to meet our growing needs for volunteers at our centre, we require bigger accommodation. Our new house is already structurally complete, but in order to continue our building, we are now in need of donations.
Every donation will help us to continue our work in educating the local children and thus giving them the opportunity to a future without poverty.
