    The German Cleft Children’s Aid Society supports cleft children suffering from a congenital malformation of cleft lip and cleft palate and urgently need an operation that gives them a chance for a better life. Every three minutes a cleft child is born.

    With this call for donations, we want to help 40 cleft children in India and provide them with the live changing operation. Cleft lip and cleft palate is one of the most common malformations worldwide. Affected children are having difficulties with drinking, swallowing and speaking. Cleft children suffer a lot from the humiliation and isolation because of the way they look. In some cases these children are hidden away or disowned. A cruel fate that can often be avoided by one operation.

    An operation only costs about 250 €! A small amount considering that it gives a cleft child the chance to lead a normal life without disfigurement and exclusion. An operation also helps the families. Often the whole family is shunned because of the malformation of their child and they get excluded from the community. Through the successful treatment of their child they can participate in social life again.
