We had a fun sewing workshop yesterday, teaching young Muslim women from nearby slum pockets how to make a soft toy monkey out of a pair of socks. The women, some of them not allowed to finish school, have shown an interest in making use of our mobile library - we will soon bring books for them in a box to a school, where they can go and read things, they might not encounter otherwise: on the environment, story-telling, novels and other interesting stuff. Lets see, if they accept the offer of books with the same fun-loving enthusiasm as they did the moneky-workshop.
