About this project

Goa is a beautiful state blessed by nature and unfortunately overpopulated with stray, feral and abandoned dogs, cats and cattle. The situation is grave.
There are cats everywhere....abandoned at markets, in streets and lanes, living short lives and dying of curable diseases, foraging in garbage dumps, reproducing and dying in numbers.
From 5 cats that I brought from Kathmandu, I now have 16 at my house. I feed about 15 cats around the market area of the next village. Markets are favoured dumping grounds for kittens.
Cats are routinely killed by dogs roaming in feral packs. I lost 3 of mine like this.
There are a few groups of compassionate, hardworking rescuers but the scenario in Goa is overwhelming. The average pet owner does not know or does not care about ABC or even basic health care. So pets are thrown out with gay abandoned.
I am raising funds to feed and take care of the 16 cats I have at home and an equal number at the next village market.
I need funds for food, meducine, vet bills and
All cats will be neutered, vaccinated and dewormed with the final aim of finding for them loving forever homes. Sick and injured cats will be treated and later neutered and vaccinated too. Feral cats that do better “in the wild” will be returned to their territories after neutering and vaccination, but this would always be the last option. Those that cannot be returned to their hostile environment and have not yet found their forever home will stay at CatSanctuary Goa. Alongside I want to start an awareness campaign to promote cats as lovable pets and companions and to sensitise people to the needs and rights of all animals.
