About this project
In Ghana, persons with learning disabilities face stigma in discrimination. They constitute an impoverished and marginalised group, characterised by a lack of access to services that would support and enable them to achieve their potential.
Yumba Special School focuses on teaching the children skills that can enable to live more independent lives and contribute to society. The school, however, is unable to fulfill this aim because of a lack of funding, proper facilities and staff capacity to cope with the number of children they teach and their disabilities.
To create a sustainable improvement at the school we need the help of people from across the world. Money raised for the school will go towards:
Improving the classrooms and teaching materials at the school to provide the children with specialised lessons that enables their capabilities.
