    About this project

    K. Prothmann from Shakti Milan Bags is responsible for this project
Nepalese women have virtually no rights. Access to education, health care and private ownership remains unattainable, especially for women from the lower social classes. Instead, many women suffer rape and domestic violence. Also, Human Trafficking and Slavery is not uncommon in Nepal.

We want these women provide a safe and violence-free environment and give them the opportunity to earn their own income. We train them to sew bags from great local and recycled materials. Handmade with fancy design and each piece. The sale of these products, the women get a fair compensation and the opportunity to make out, then continue.

    ADVANTAGE
The women learn a trade that makes them independent. They will receive a regular income (for work) with which they can feed themselves and their children. They work in a non-violent, friendly environment and have the opportunity to casually eg educate or to go to school as textile designers.

    USE OF MONEY
The organization Shakti Milan Bags reveals itself through the sale of products independent of donations source of income. Any profit is reinvested in other projects to assist the most vulnerable women.

To set up the project initially with a small team of 7-8 women in life, we need a start-up financing for the purchase of sewing machines and materials as well as for training and marketing.

Please help the women and their children build a future. Your donations will be used solely for the project described and carefully managed and invested in Nepal. Once the project is started, you receive periodic status reports on the progress.

    WHO
I (human resources manager from Berlin) had me on my 43rd birthday fulfills a wish and have been traveling in the fall of 2014 for 3 months to Nepal. Always has me fascinated this region, but I never had the courage yet to leave the safe waters and to jump into the deep end. In Nepal I lived with a host family and hired me as a volunteer for social justice. It's a great feeling to wake up every morning and have the chance to do something meaningful.
Together with the highly experienced and committed social activists Gokul and the charismatic founder of Shakti Milan Bags, Prakriti, we are working on this project for support to vulnerable women in Nepal.
