    Project Name: Construction of girl's hostel at Chalinze constituency in Bagamoyo District, Coast region - Tanzania. This project seeks to save girls from being raped while they are walking from home to school (about 50 km go and return) daily. Girls are suffering from being vulnerable to sex abuse while walking for a distance of more than 50 km from home to school daily. The project is located at Ubena village sub township of Chalinze in Bagamoyo district. The School is known as Ubena Secondary School. Statistics from the school Authority shows that about 80-90 girls a year drop out from school due to pregnancies and others decide themselves to drop out from school in fear of being raped while walking from home to school.
    Children Aid Tanzania is a registered NGO in Tanzania with registration number 5806. The organization was registered to deal with most vulnerable children in Tanzania. The construction of girl's hostel project was an initiative started by Children Aid Tanzania to save and help girls stay in school. This project seeks to rise $400,000 to cover the costs of construction, improve the school learning environment through the provision of bed and mattresses for girls to stay in school, provision of teaching and learning materials such as books, computers and other essential materials for learning. The project also seeks to help other disadvantaged and vulnerable children to have dormitories to stay in school in order to improve school learning environment and their performance in the national examinations. Children Aid Tanzania will collaborate with the school Authority and the village government to mobilize communities to contribute in kind to assist some other activities like site clearing, sand collection and other essential activities which are important for initial ground work. Children Aid Tanzania will also provide training to teachers to improve their teaching methodologies as well as acquiring new skills to improve their teaching strategies. Children at the school will also receive training especially training related to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) in order to instil sanitation and hygiene behavioural change among the school children. This project is a pilot and partly a scaling up to further reduce the problem of girls' hostel in Tanzania especially in a community owned secondary schools in Tanzania where majority of children and especially girls drop out from school due to pregnancies as a result of long walking distances from home to school in most of the rural secondary schools in Tanzania. The project therefore, intends to save and help girls stay in school and at reducing the problem of girls' hostel and improving the school's teaching and learning environment in order to rise the education standard of the schools and improve children performance in the national examinations issued by the national examinations council of Tanzania as well as internal school performance for the betterment of the child
