Zaim K. was seriously injured in war. He and his wife were further severely traumatised through many events (as f.e. the conquering of their village in East Bosnia).
Since 2007 Zaim participates continuously in the activities of the veterans' club "Svjetlost Drine" in Gorazde - as group- and individual therapy.
Now he feels psychologically much better. One huge problem for him and his family is however their economic situation. The only income of the family is Zaim's small pension as disabled person of monthly 145 €, which can be cut off again at any time. From such an amount even a single person and even in Bosnia can't live; for a family of 4 persons (with two teenage sons) it is completely impossible. Zaim accepts each possible work. But there are scarcely any opportunities. Without the big garden, which he and his wife use intensely, the family couldn't survive. But nevertheless too many things are missing...
The heavy financial problems further hinder the psychological recovery of Zaim and caused several times new crisis'.
One year ago Zaim has got a milling machine as a donation. But anfortunately there were some important parts missing: the trailer and the plough, without which Zaim can't use the machine.
Since one year he tries desperately to get these missing parts - but without success. It is impossible for the family to buy these parts themslves, as the needed costs are about 1700 €.
With plough and milling machine Zaim could secure an income for his family by preparing the fields of small peasants which have no tractor.
Zaim says: "My only wish is, that I can live from my own hands' work and feed my family myself."
By the help of 23 betterplace-supporters and one direct donation we succeeded in realizing Zaim's dream! He will now be able to secure the existence of his family. A big Thank You to all our supporters! Please have a look at Zaim's and Zumra's letter (blog from 16.12.09)
