Summary:
This save children project aim to restore 5,000 eye-sights to poor children, save 4,500 children with hearing problems (deaf) and cure 5,500 children with mental diseases. There are numerous children in Ghana with these disabilities which need urgent and periodic attention. Raleigh aims to assist by providing free diagnostic measures, treatments, provide all kind of aid materials and provide long term maintenance. Help children in poor and rural communities to have normal and meaningful lives.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?:
There are numerous of neglected & deprived children in Ghana with ear, eyes and mental problems & disabilities without any care. It is a right for every child of school going age to be screened and treated, but this has been abandoned for so long. As a result of this, millions of children in peri-urban & rural areas are suffering with these disabilities without any care/cure. This has led many children to perform badly in school, neglected in societies & not being able to go to school at all.
How will this project solve this problem?:
This project aims to assist children in poor and rural communities to have normal and meaningful lives by helping to restore their sight (eyes/visuals impairment), cure their hearing impairment (death) and mental disorders (intellectual impairments) by providing diagnostics, treatments, provision of AID tools and materials, offer training and long term care and management through the provision of a permanent center to undertake all the intervention activities to enable them achieve their dreams.
Potential Long Term Impact:
This project aim to benefit 15,000 and more children by helping to restore 5,000 eye-sights, cure 4,500 children with hearing problems (death), cure 5,500 children with mental diseases, which will enable them to have normal & meaningful lives by going to school, perform good in school, being able to read & write and feel part of society. Finally this project aims to provide a permanent center to provide free diagnostic measures, treatments for their long term management, care and maintenance.
