The women cooperative "Mwanzo Mgumo" ("Every beginning is hard") was started in August 2008 and comprises two groups of totally 12 women. They operate a tree nursery and a poultry farm in the village Bungi on Unguja Island, the products of which they sell to local people. They plan to dig a well on their plot as to support irrigation and feeding of their chicken and ducks. Also, they want to reclaim the land by adding about 20 lorries of fertile soil. For this they require about 1.2 million TSh (ca. 700 Euro) and and 400,000 TSh (ca. 235 Euro), respectively.
