Our non-profit, volunteer-run association has been organizing Franco-German holiday camps for children and young people for 27 years—alternating between Germany and France. In these camps, German and French children and youth aged 4 to 16 not only experience genuine intercultural exchange but also engage deeply with scientific and socially relevant topics—this year, for example, biodiversity and the ocean.
Our approach is experiential education: learning through direct experience, active participation, and close contact with nature. Our motto is "Experience, don’t just talk." What young people experience themselves, they understand more deeply—and develop respect, responsibility, and perspectives for joint action.
This summer, we are traveling with four youth groups in Brittany—carrying great commitment but also facing growing challenges. Unfortunately, many funding sources were cut this year, making us urgently dependent on additional support to keep our program inclusive.
It is especially important to us to enable participation for children and young people from educationally disadvantaged, migrant, or socially underprivileged families. In recent years, more and more parents have been unable to finance their children’s participation in our intercultural projects. Without additional funding—such as through our project "Giving Children Holidays"—it is no longer possible for us to close this financial gap and offer every child a place.
We kindly ask for your support—by sharing this appeal and, if possible, financially. Every contribution helps provide children and young people with sustainable educational and life experiences, fosters intercultural understanding, and brings European values to life in a very tangible way.
