About this project
This proof is provided by means of an antibody test (also known as a titer test). This test can be carried out from 30 days after the rabies vaccination. Blood is taken from the animal and sent to a certified laboratory for analysis. If the result is at least 0.5, the animal is allowed to leave the country three months later. Our animals enter Germany via Traces.
The titer test for the dogs in question costs 90 euros each - a total of 1,080 euros.
In addition to our own rescues and the support of local animal rights activists, we also try to get some dogs out of the municipal animal shelter in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, and let them leave. There are usually over 200 dogs housed there and, like so many others, each of them deserves a home of their own.
We have been there several times ourselves and have gained our own overview of the situation at the shelter, got to know the dogs and selected 12. They are 12 out of over 200... but they are 12! 12 souls, 12 fates, each with their own story. 12 lives that have few prospects locally. Adoptions on site are rare - or rather non-existent.
We have selected 12 dogs and are now preparing them for departure. We need support for this - every donation helps.
The animal shelter itself only covers the costs incurred for the dog in the city, i.e. the necessary mandatory vaccinations on site. There is no budget for titer tests.
So if we manage to raise the money for the titer tests for the 12 dogs, the first step towards their departure will have been taken. The donations will be transferred to the local vet, who will take the blood samples and send them to the laboratory.
Our plan is to have the titer tests done by 30.06.2025. Then, if the dogs have passed their test, they could leave the country from 30.09.2025.
Thank you very much for your support!
