About this project

Paul Sochacki from Arts of the Working Class (Reflektor Monde gUG) is responsible for this project
We’re fundraising to support our editorial collaboration with Architects for Tempelhofer Feld (Architects4THF) for the special joint issue № 38, “Choreography”, which will be released in September 2025.
This publication will shed light on the urgent debate around the ethical role of architects, landscape architects, and urban planners in shaping Berlin’s future, starting from the controversial competition to build on Berlin’s largest public park, Tempelhofer Feld. Architects4THF outline what the competition proposes and why it puts the field at risk in their open letter. Tempelhofer Feld belongs to everyone. It’s a living, breathing commons, where societal needs, ecological urgency, and community-driven visions must take precedence.

At a time when market forces and top-down decisions increasingly threaten public spaces, we believe it’s essential to boost grassroots initiatives and defend people’s sovereignty over urban practices. That's why, with the joint issue, we aim to understand and reflect on the intersection of planning practices with societal needs, market dynamics, the climate crisis, and participatory processes. With your support, we will print 75,000 copies, distributed on the streets by those most affected by the housing crisis, with 100% of proceeds going directly to the vendors.

Your donation empowers independent journalism, covers production and contributor costs, and fuels collective action for an urban future that serves people, not profits.

_______

Architects4THF
is a growing network of architects, landscape architects, and urban planners, founded on November 7, 2024, in response to the 2024-2025 Tempelhofer Feld idea competition, which welcomes new construction despite the 2014 citizens’ referendum. Their first collective action, an open letter titled RE: DO NOT BUILD, gained 4.285 supporters within weeks. These include key allies such as 100% Tempelhofer Feld and Environmental Action Germany (Deutsche Umwelthilfe), as well as respected figures in the industry, including Prof. Dr. Antoine Vialle, Prof. Arno Brandlhuber, Prof. Benjamin Foerster-Baldenius, Charlotte Malterre-Barthes, Enlai Hooi, Prof. Jean-Philippe Vassal, and Theresa Keilhacker. This early momentum affirmed the urgency of the cause and the wide-reaching support for protecting the Feld.
