About this project

Holger Hartwig from Helferverein THW Düsseldorf e.V. is responsible for this project
The "Bergungsgruppe" is the Swiss Army Knife of the THW. The "Bergungsgruppe"  rescues people, animals and property from collapsed buildings or accident vehicles, for example. The rescue team also retrieves objects from dangerous situations. It supports damaged buildings, carries out light clearing work and prepares paths and crossings. The personnel and equipment are designed to deal with the widest possible range of tasks.
With its two technical platoons, the Düsseldorf local association has two "Bergungsgruppe" that are equipped almost identically. This equipment is usually sufficient, but sometimes we reach our limits. During an exercise in 2024, for example, we realised that the demolition hammer on the vehicle was not powerful enough to break through a ceiling in less than 4 hours. 4 hours in which an injured person would have to wait for help.
We want to change this and purchase more powerful equipment with funds from the helpers' association. The new demolition hammers should have significantly more power and help us to rescue trapped people more quickly.
