We are the SKUA, the sailing ship of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Scout Association. We started building the boat together in 2012 and have been sailing the coastal waters near Greifswald since 2022. Safety is the big issue now: we need new and modern safety equipment for longer and longer voyages in order to be prepared if the worst comes to the worst.
In concrete terms, this means a self-inflating life raft with all the necessary safety equipment, as well as the Automatic Identification System AIS, which makes us visible as a relatively small nutshell on the bridges of the really big ships - even at night and in rough seas! We also need a number of accessories, which we have listed below.
We are currently able to cover our operating costs with a self-assessed cruise fee and contributions from our supporters. However, this is not enough for major purchases and we are dependent on donations. If you can help us - or hopefully yourself on the next trip together - we would be delighted to receive your donation and say thank you, see you soon and always a hand's width of water under the keel!
