About this project

Working together to close gaps and save lives.
The new US administration is planning to dissolve USAID and stop all funding for development cooperation and humanitarian aid. This is a disaster. Although we German Doctors are independent of USAID funding, many of our local partners are affected. In our Baraka outpatient clinic in Nairobi, the HIV/Aids program is funded by USAID. Around 230,000 euros per year come from the USA and finance life-saving medication as well as 29 employees who care for 3,300 HIV patients.
Dr. Stephan Dupke, honorary German Doctor, warns: “The successes of recent years are in grave danger. In the medium term, there will be a massive increase in deaths from HIV/AIDS if USAID stops funding.”

Mary Atien, an HIV-positive patient, explains: “We have no money to pay for the HIV medication ourselves. It's not even enough for food at home.”
We have to be prepared at any time for the aid to be cut off completely at short notice. George Audi, our project manager in Nairobi, explains that there is a one-month supply of HIV medication on site.
We are doing everything we can to support our local partners and continue to provide our patients with treatment.
Please help us! Your donation is more important than ever. As German Doctors, we provide sustainable, consistent help - and we want to continue to do so. Thank you very much!
