About this project
A girl from a poor background is found to miss school on an average of 3 days/month and during the days when she has her menses.
A girl needs a least one packet of commercial sanitary pads/month which costs Euro 3. For an average household (which survives on less than one dollar/day) this is too much and not many parents put this on their budget lists.
This has resulted to the poor girls using cuttings from old clothes. These Improvised cloth-pads are not only unhygienic but they also do not ensure 100% leakage-free and are uncomfortable. These vulnerable girls absent themselves from school and lack self-confidence when socializing with the rest during their menses days. This effectively lowers their school performance when compared to their counterparts.
Your kind donation of Euro 5 Euro or more will enable Green Households Initiatives (GHI) to purchase and facilitate distribution of one packed of I-Care Reusable Sanitary pads to the school girls. One pack of these pads is designed to service one girl for a whole year and enable her stay in the classroom for the whole academic year.
