About this project

Anja van Eijsden from DER HAFEN HILFT! e.V. is responsible for this project
Women at Work – Building Confidence Through Handwork

With our new project “Women at Work”, we want to create a safe, supportive space for women from women’s shelters and gender-specific social institutions.
Here, they can learn basic manual skills – and at the same time gain confidence, independence, and a sense of community.
How do I assemble a shelf?
How do I read an instruction manual or sketch?
How do I safely use a power drill?

In small, accessible workshops, participants learn hands-on skills that are useful in everyday life – taught with patience, clarity and respect. They will:
• assemble furniture
• use tools safely
• tackle small home repairs
read and apply visual instructions and manuals
• and most importantly: say with pride, “I can do this myself.”

Many of the women have experienced violence, displacement or homelessness.

“Women at Work” supports them in building strength, structure and self-reliance – one step, one skill at a time.

The project is currently in the planning phase – with your support, we aim to launch it soon and make it a lasting part of our work.

Together, we’re building more than shelves – we’re building perspectives.
