The Department of Directing at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts is not only characterised by excellent independent directorial work in an increasingly differentiated reality.
The Department of Directing at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts is not only characterised by excellent independent directorial work in an increasingly differentiated reality.
In an increasingly complex theatre world, pan-European and international networking plays a major role.
The exchange with students from the Athens Conservatory with the directing department at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts has a successful history and the contact with Athens as the cradle of European theatre art is an extraordinary and lasting experience for the students.
The cost-cutting measures in the Greek education sector have prevented Erasmus funding from continuing. The students of the HfS and the Conservatoire do not want their education to be stolen as a result.
The Friends of the HfS are therefore helping to support the return visit from Athens by raising funds for the Athens students' travel and accommodation.

What is the plan?
- Spring 2025: Online brainstorming sessions to generate ideas and creative energy.
- Summer 2025: From 30 June to 9 July, the Athens Conservatory students will travel to Berlin for an intensive biomechanics workshop and start working on the joint productions.
- Autumn 2025: The EB directing students will come to Athens so that we can stage our work and present it to our local audience!
What do we need?
Our goal is to raise €16,000 to cover the costs of our 15-person trip to Berlin.
While the German School's trip to Athens is covered by an Erasmus grant from the EU, Greek educational institutions rely on your generous support to realise this dream.
The students are determined to make this trip a reality, no matter what sacrifices they have to make.
