Enactus Stenden SA is an organization that is based in Port Alfred in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. It is aimed at involving students in community developments as they believe that charity begins at home.

I decided, just like Frank (100% Tempelhofer Feld) and Julie (Spenden statt schenken), that I don't want presents for my birthday this year. Instead, I asked my friends for a donation to support a student organisation in South Africa and decided to go large and set up this crowdfunding campaign. With the money, something real meaningful can be done and more people will benefit at once. So please, join me in my quest to support the students who in turn are committed to uplift their local community through entrepreneurial action and business thinking.
Why South Africa? Well, I came as an exchange student in 2009 and ended up doing my internship in the Community Development Office at Stenden South Africa. Since then, I have a passion for the country, for the beautiful nature, the impressive wildlife and the diverse cultures. Besides, I learned that, sometimes, not much is needed to make a difference and to help people and organisations in need in South Africa. I decided to launch this crowdfunding campaign, because I realised that I can do something even back home in Germany,
But why Enactus SSA? The main reason to support Enactus SSA is that it will benefit both students and project beneficiaries. Through the implementation of projects, students gain leadership experience and practical knowledge in idea development, project management and community development - It's a win-win situation :)
Another factor is, that I co-founded Enactus SSA during my internship and acted as Co-Faculty Advisor (coach/mentor) later on. Thus, I want this organisation to be continuously successful and I want them to play an active role in the development of their local community.
The current team has some great project ideas, it's motivated and commited to make a difference, nonetheless they need some financial support. €5 (~ZAR 67) have a greater value in South Africa than in Germany and consequently much more can be done. To spend the money wisely, the university (Stenden South Africa) supports students as advisor, so that the money will be invested wisely and effective.
