Elli came to Germany from Croatia, but instead of a fresh start, she struggled to survive. Diagnosis: feline leucosis. Vets tried to save her for four days - in vain. Her little body gave up and she had to be put to sleep.

On 10 January, Elli arrived in Germany by van from Croatia - a petite, gentle cat who was finally supposed to experience love and security. But instead of a new beginning, a fight for survival awaited her. Just one day after her arrival, Elli had to be admitted to the veterinary clinic. Diagnosis: feline leucosis. Her small body was also weakened by worms and skin mites. Although she was dewormed on site, the medication did not have the desired effect on her. We had already organised a foster home for her as she was unfortunately unable to go to her original foster family. Cats with leucosis should only be placed with cats that have been vaccinated against leucosis or with leucosis-positive cats.
Vets and carers fought for her life for four long days. Four days full of hope and fear. At first it sounded as if our Elli would cope well and we had high hopes. The journey to the new foster family had already been organised. But there was no GO from the vets for her release. On the contrary, in the end they only called to say that her chances were so slim and that even a blood transfusion would only bring a small delay - if at all. Our Elli was about to lose this battle. Her little body could take no more - and we had to let her go with a heavy heart. 🌈
Elli didn't stand a chance, but many other animals are still waiting to be rescued. Our work continues - for those who still have hope. But we can't help without support. The high clinic costs for Elli have torn our association account into a deep hole. The money we have set aside for urgently needed food costs will not be enough. And leaving our dogs and cats to starve is definitely not a solution. That's why we're asking you to support us again. We can't do it alone. Every euro counts to continue to be there for our animals. Without us, without you, they are defenceless and lost.
