On September 7, 2024, we kicked off a special project close to our hearts at our ARI charity gala: supporting the “Zatik” kindergarten in Jermuk. Here, over 160 children aged 3 to 6 find a place to learn, grow and dream - but together we can make even more possible!
Why is this project important?
The rural regions of Armenia are struggling with economic problems, poor infrastructure and underfunded social facilities. Jermuk, a town on the border with Azerbaijan that was attacked in September 2022, is particularly affected. Despite the consequences, it remains home to many families and offers hope for a secure future.
The “Zatik” kindergarten has hardly any sheltered outdoor areas - there is no shade in summer and no protection from the wind in fall and spring. This project aims to offer the children a better everyday life and show them that they are not forgotten.
Who do we want to help?
This project directly benefits the 160 kindergarten children in Jermuk. It not only creates a better learning and playing environment, but also gives the children the opportunity to discover how to interact with nature and take responsibility through play.
What do we want to implement?
Thanks to the generous donations at the ARI charity gala, we have already been able to collect 2,500 euros. With further contributions, we would like to build pavilions for outdoor lessons and shaded play areas, plant fruit trees and implement the project sustainably together with local craftsmen.
Who is implementing the project?
The project is organized by ARI - Youth Association of Armenians in Germany. At the end of August 2025, members of our board and other ARI volunteers will personally travel to Jermuk to accompany the implementation of the measures on site.
