About this project

Münchner Flüchtlingsrat from Münchner Flüchtlingsrat is responsible for this project
Brian* was deported to Nigeria. Help ensure that Brian has access to medical care and urgently needed medication in Nigeria and that his lawyer can fight for his return. He is seriously mentally ill and suffers from regular seizures. There is a psychiatric report that clearly shows that Brian is not fit to travel due to the severity of his illness. The immigration authorities applied for a counter-appraisal - the first appointment had to be canceled and Brian was unable to attend the second appointment as he had a breakdown on the way and had to go to a clinic. Nevertheless, he was restrained and deported under medication - in a life-threatening situation. In Nigeria, he is completely on his own. He urgently needs support for medication, visits to the doctor, food and safe accommodation. At the same time, there are costs for his lawyer here, who is taking legal action to try to get Brian back.

Donations that cannot directly benefit Brian will go to Refugees4Refugees for the shelter that supports people deported to Nigeria.

Update (02.06.2025)
The proceedings to bring Brian back to Germany from Nigeria are still in court and have not yet been decided. In the meantime, Brian has been provided with a six-month supply of his urgently needed medication. With the support of Refugees4Refugees, it has also been possible to ensure that he has a roof over his head for the next few months.
However, Brian's condition is currently deteriorating again. He is suffering from a lack of prospects and lacks medical care, assistance with his medication and psychological support. We are therefore trying to obtain another report on his current state of health in Nigeria, this time from Nigerian doctors. This could be used as evidence of his poor condition in the German court proceedings.

Due to the continuing high costs, we are also trying to give Brian the opportunity to stand on his own two feet in Nigeria in parallel to the ongoing court proceedings. The hope is that he will not continue to be dependent on monthly support payments and will not be permanently dependent on us if repatriation is not possible. He can imagine opening a small store despite his health situation.

About us

The Münchner Flüchtlingsrat e.V. was founded over 30 years ago by individuals and refugee initiatives as a platform for the exchange of experience and information as well as joint public relations and lobbying work. Since then, the Munich Refugee Council has been campaigning for the rights of refugees and migrants in Munich and beyond. We also take care of the practical needs of refugees and voluntary helpers, support them with legal advice and arrange support services and sponsorships in Munich and Ingolstadt. In individual cases, we continue to support our clients even after their deportation, for example by providing legal or financial assistance.
