About this project

Lillian Kaufmann from English Theatre Leipzig e.V. is responsible for this project
“Every storm feels like it will never end, until it does.
Every dream feels like reality until you wake up.
Stories don’t always twist in the way you expect.”

About the Play: An Island in the Stormy Sea is a new play written in modern English, based on the works of Shakespeare, primarily The Tempest. The play reinvents the story of Prospero, Miranda and the island they call home, bringing to the forefront themes of overcoming oppression and trauma, celebrating queerness, and love being stronger than hate. Guided by the ethereal Trickster, audiences will see that in the end it is how we tell stories that really matters.

About us: Both cast and crew are made up of people who share a deep love for theatre. We are happy to dedicate a large portion of our free time to this project and having the necessary financial means to see every idea through makes this work even more fulfilling.
The magic of theatre lies in its ability to bring people together, to escape reality and share an evening of illusion. We welcome you to our world—our shared illusion—and with your help, we can make it a reality.

How you can help: There are a myriad of ways you can help us bring this project to life. You can donate money that will be used to buy costumes and build our stage. Besides that, you can also share this crowdfunding page to get the word out.
Follow us on Instagram (@englishtheatreleipzig) and share our posts to help us reach a bigger audience.
And most importantly come and see us on stage in March at the Neues Schauspiel Leipzig.
