The planned event is part of a series of planned actions to strengthen democracy, social interaction and political discourse. This includes discussion formats, demonstrations and information events, but also events with a focus on the value of community commitment to democracy and a liveable local environment. We held such an event for the first time in 2024, which was very well received. However, our resources are limited in 2025, so external expenses, especially for the band, must be financed with donations and participation from public authorities. We have applied for funds from the district office, but it is uncertain that these funds will be approved.
Among other things, a banquet "Radeberg is(s)t bunt" is planned for May 11th, based on similar events in other places, at which diversity, openness and hospitality are to be made visible and these values are to be promoted.
The event is primarily managed by the association “Radeberger Land helps e.V.” and the action alliance “With Heart and Attitude”. The latter includes representatives from the city council, parishes, youth work, schools and others who organize the event on a voluntary basis.
Other actors should be addressed. These include, among other things, local associations and initiatives. We would like to invite all age groups to come together and experience the diversity of the city and its club world over breakfast together. We would also like to consciously address the group of teenagers and young adults (all schools, youth clubs, UMA residential groups, already integrated young adults with a migration background and motivated helpers of integration in Radeberg). The aim is to learn that a diverse, open society based on mutual respect and observing basic democratic rules is an enrichment for everyone.
The Banda Communale stands for these values in a visible and audible way like no other group and will provide musical accompaniment to the program. The almost 20 members of the band collective come from many different countries, including Germany, Israel, Russia, Palestine, Ukraine and Syria. Some of them have a history of escape. What unites everyone: They want to reinterpret their local music, break down prejudices, and ensure understanding. The formation has been traveling in Saxony with this cause since 2001 and plays in clubs, youth centers and schools, among other places. The “Banda Communale” has received national and international awards for its work.
The band's performance is primarily intended to be financed (travel, fees, GEMA, PR). The event is carried out and supported by volunteers.
