Renovation Measures and Solar Systems for 13 Vocational Schools in Aleppo
Project Description:
After the fall of the dictatorship in Syria on December 8, 2024, the GBZ team finally had the opportunity to visit several Syrian cities that had been severely damaged by the 13-year-long war. During these inspections, it became clear that the education sector, in particular, urgently needs support. The heavily affected vocational schools require comprehensive renovation and restoration measures to maintain school operations. Our first stop was Aleppo, where we assessed, analyzed, and documented the severe damage in 13 vocational schools on-site. As part of this project, we primarily focus on the most urgent repairs and renovation measures to ensure the continuation of teaching in these schools. Following this, the installation of solar systems will take place to cover at least part of the urgent energy needs. Since the local energy grid is largely destroyed, this measure forms an important cornerstone for a sustainable power supply.
Why is this project crucial?
The renovation and the establishment of a sustainable energy source are essential to ensure the continuous operation of these schools. These vocational schools offer technical and craft training programs and generate income through the sale of their products at special exhibitions. The revenues generated benefit teachers and students and represent an important source of income for numerous economically burdened families in Aleppo.
Quality Assurance and Timeline:
An experienced project manager will efficiently oversee and coordinate the implementation of the project. The renovation measures and the installation of the solar systems will be completed within three months. All local workers will receive fair and adequate compensation for their contributions.
