For solidarity in our city: Without us, Hagen would look old and gray!
East-West-East Germany e.V. has been active since 2017. Our goal is to work with all young people in this city and engage them in cultural and political education projects at both local and international levels. Every year, we implement 20 to 25 projects, specifically reaching young people who are often hard to engage – including Yazidi children, girls from the Rom*nja community, and young refugees. They belong in our city and are our future. We understand their fears, especially when discussions about remigration arise.
To provide them with security, participation, and future prospects, we create spaces for learning and exchange – both locally and internationally. Through the EU’s Erasmus+ program, we take them on international exchanges, introducing them to European values such as democracy, freedom, and the rule of law. We facilitate encounters between young people who would otherwise never meet, strengthening solidarity in our city.
Our current projects and why we need donations:
📌 Center for Intercultural Education in Berchum
We have rented a house in Berchum to offer young people an escape from daily life. Here, they can experience nature, gain new perspectives, and participate in educational programs. Many of our participants cannot afford accommodation costs, so we rely on donations to keep this essential opportunity available.
🎨 Project YOU-POWER
In the "YOU-POWER" project, young people – whether born here, raised here, or newly arrived – come together through artistic and creative expression. They share their experiences, perspectives, and visions for the future, sending a strong message for a society free from discrimination and exclusion. We need support to cover the costs of materials, artist fees, and workshops.
We depend on donations to continue our work. Our projects are primarily funded through grants, which we must apply for each year—often requiring co-funding that we have to contribute ourselves. With your support, we can amplify young voices, strengthen community bonds, and make Hagen a more open and diverse place!
