In collaboration with the successful and stylistically versatile soprano Kateryna Kasper, we are going to perform a very special concert on 16 March 2025 at the Alte Schlosserei Offenbach. We are presenting a programme that explores the stage character of the harlequin. This forefather of the modern clown is a master of ambiguity. Good and evil, holy and diabolical, happy and sad - the Harlequin can be all of these things in one and the same moment. He juxtaposes our longing for simplicity and truth with laughter and with the infinite, ambiguous interstices that characterise our existence.
The complexity of the world can be overwhelming. We live in a time that presents us more than ever with challenges that cannot be solved with simple answers. The temptation to oversimplify the complexity of modern life in a crude but understandable endeavour to protect ourselves from challenging issues is great. It takes courage to accept the many shades of life and to dare to empathise with many different points of view. The Harlequin is a master at this.
Under the direction of Nicolai Bernstein, 15 musicians from the Kammerphilharmonie Frankfurt will perform music by C. Debussy, I. Stravinsky, G. Pergolesi, W. A. Mozart, S. Sondheim and others. A clown will bring the character of Harlequin to life and together with the music, will make a moving plea for diversity, complexity and the freedom to live life in all its facets.
We are really looking forward to the premiere of this exciting programme. Concept, location and time have been finalised. Only one thing is missing. And that's where YOU come in. Help us finance this great project!
Launching a new project always involves high costs. We work to a high professional standard, spare no effort and are always prepared to invest many volunteer hours in the projects we believe in. We want to make sure that our musicians and the artists we work with are paid fairly. Help us make this possible. THANK YOU for every donation, big or small.
