Men's counselling: Prevent violence by and against men!

man-o-mann männerberatung, a men's counselling centre, was founded 35 years ago and has been offering psychosocial support in the form of individual counselling and group work to all men in need ever since. Men come to us who suffer from depression or anxiety, who need advice about their partnership or fatherhood or who are in any other crisis situation.

In addition to this general counselling for men and fathers, a key focus of our work is the prevention of violence. Specifically, we offer counselling in this context:
- perpetrator work with men who have acted violently in their partnership
- violence prevention education in the form of seminars, lectures and workshops on topics such as "origins of violence", "violence and constructions of masculinity" etc.
- a men's shelter for men who have been victims of intimate partner violence, forced marriage or other assaults
- the ‘Violence against men helpline’ as an initial counselling option for men affected by violence (www.maennerhilfetelefon.de)

Unfortunately, the funding we receive from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia for this violence protection work does not cover the costs in full. We are therefore urgently dependent on donations in order to be able to continue our work beyond this year.
