About this project

Martin -Drohnen Team- from Wildtierrettung Sigmaringe e.V. is responsible for this project
In our organization, we have been actively working for years to protect fawns. Every year, during the mowing season, tragic accidents occur where young deer are injured or killed by mowing machines. Fawns, which hide in tall grass and are hard for farmers to spot, are especially vulnerable. By using thermal imaging technology, we have already saved many lives by detecting fawns early and protecting them from the mowing hazards.

Unfortunately, our current thermal drone is outdated and limited in its functionality. To continue our effective work in rescuing fawns, we urgently need a new, more powerful thermal drone. This drone will allow us to find the animals quickly and precisely, even in difficult terrain or poor visibility. With a better drone, we can cover larger areas and save even more lives.

Project Goal: We aim to acquire a new thermal drone to enhance the efficiency and success of our fawn rescue efforts. The drone will be equipped with a high-resolution thermal camera to identify hidden animals quickly. It will also be capable of covering larger areas in less time, increasing the chances of finding fawns in time and protecting them from the dangers of mowing.

Why is this important?

  • Animal protection: Every year, thousands of fawns are killed by mowing, even though this is preventable. With the drone, we can launch proactive rescue operations.
  • Sustainable wildlife protection: Our work helps preserve local wildlife and maintain ecological balance in the region.
  • Increasing engagement: We aim to mobilize more volunteers and use innovative technologies to expand our rescue operations.
Cost breakdown:

  • Thermal drone including camera: €6,000
  • Additional equipment: €1,000
Total need: €7,000

How can you help? Every contribution helps us raise the necessary funds to purchase the drone. Whether it's €5, €10, or more – every donation brings us one step closer to our goal of saving more lives. Together, we can make a big difference and help protect the fawns.
