Why a queer meeting place?

In Bremerhaven, there is no meeting place, no facility and no space where queer people can come together, organize or get to know each other. Especially for adults who are no longer young people, this lack often leads to loneliness and social isolation. Yet community is so important - for mutual support, exchange and the feeling of being accepted.

A queer clubhouse can provide this much-needed space:

A safe place for all queer people.
A platform for groups, initiatives and projects.
A club café for meetings and discussions.
Accessibility so that queer people with disabilities can also participate.

What we are planning

We want to open a queer clubhouse in a central location in Bremerhaven that:

serves as a contact point for queer people,
offers space for meetings, events and workshops
and includes a small café that invites people to linger.
Our vision is an inclusive, vibrant place that strengthens community, celebrates queer pride and gives all visitors the feeling of belonging: This is where I belong.
