Since 2022, the "Center for Culture" has been the foundation of our participatory cultural work in the neighborhood. It provided space for intergenerational education, cultural activities, and community work. Our goal was to promote cultural and democratic participation while empowering people through a wide range of offerings. These included pub nights, jam sessions, concerts, exhibitions, readings, film screenings, DJ events, parties, band rehearsals, and supporting newcomers. Additionally, we provided spaces for children and youth work, local networking, and voluntary social counseling.
Unfortunately, the space quickly became too small to meet the high demand, and our already-planned move was expedited by a fire in the building’s attic. Damage from smoke, soot, and water forced us to leave the center at short notice. Many items had to be discarded because they were ruined by mold.
Now, a new chapter begins at Musfeldstraße in Duisburg Hochfeld. We have found new premises, but they require extensive renovations. While the building permit is still in progress, we cannot hold any events or generate income. At the same time, we are already incurring ongoing rent and utility costs.
This is why we need your support now! Every donation helps us manage the financial challenges of this transitional phase and allows us to resume our cultural work soon. We will keep you updated as soon as the building permit is approved and the renovation phases begin.
With your help, a place for connection, creativity, and participation will once again come to life on Musfeldstraße. Thank you for supporting us!
