About this project

K. Klever from Agentur für soziale Projekte e.V. ASP is responsible for this project
If you enter "queer places Berlin" in any search engine, you will quickly find what you are looking for. You will find gay bars, the gay museum, queer cafes and party places. What you will not find are facilities and offers for young people. If you add the word "youth", the explicitly queer youth centers appear, of which there are now a few in Berlin. That is far too few for the "queer capital of Europe", but at least they exist! But what about the other youth facilities, for example the one around the corner? Is it really the case that no regular youth facility offers queer offers? Or are they at least queer-friendly, i.e. actually open to everyone?

We know that there are youth facilities that have the topic on their radar and are aware that statistically there are queer young people in every youth facility, unfortunately mostly just invisible. Many want to ensure that they feel seen and addressed and start to offer queer activities, such as a queer cafe or a queer film afternoon. Or a youth sports club also wants to appeal to queer young people and creates a discrimination-sensitive offer. In order for these offers to reach everyone, there has been a lack of a portal that provides leisure and sports activities, advice, education and support, as well as information and tips. We have created this with Queere-Jugend-Berlin.de! Queer young people are increasingly affected by discrimination, exclusion and violence - especially in the increasingly right-wing and authoritarian climate - and suffer more frequently from depression and suicidal thoughts. But it is not their being queer that triggers this, it is us, society - and only we can change that! Queere_jugend-berlin.de offers access to discrimination-sensitive spaces, advice and support, and the opportunity to meet other young queers.

Unfortunately, since the site was created and supported by Aktion Mensch, there has been no ongoing funding. It is very difficult to get project funding for existing projects. Please help us to keep queere-jugend-berlin.de going!
