For the population of Lebanon, the past 14 months of war since October 7, 2023, and especially the escalation of the conflict since mid-September 2024, have had devastating consequences. Thousands of residential buildings have been completely or partially destroyed. Over 4,047 people have been killed, and more than 16,600 injured. Around 20% of the population, approximately 1.2 million people, have been displaced and forced to leave their homes, and many are still on the run to this day.
Even after the ceasefire agreement on November 27, 2024, countless people are left with nothing. Many have lost their homes, belongings, and livelihoods. People of all socio-economic backgrounds, faiths, and nationalities have been affected. The war has hit marginalized groups particularly hard, including Syrian and Palestinian refugees, foreign migrant workers, women, and queer individuals.
All of this is happening amidst a brutal economic, financial, and state crisis that has gripped the country since 2019. Even before the war, around 75% of the population lived below the poverty line. There is a lack of everything: food, clean water, medicine, hygiene products, and winter clothing.
There is hardly any state aid that reaches those in need. With our donation campaign, we aim to address this gap and support the people of Lebanon during this massive humanitarian crisis. In particular, we want to contribute to families, the injured, and highly vulnerable individuals who urgently rely on immediate assistance.
For this, we need your financial support – EVERY DONATION HELPS!
The campaign is coordinated by Transaidency and supported by experienced local partners in Lebanon who are well aware of the needs on the ground. Part of the donations will enable direct, unbureaucratic aid to families and individuals; another part will support two grassroots organizations that also aim to strengthen Lebanese civil society in the long term.
The organization Nation Station cooks and distributes thousands of meals in Beirut every day, while Egna Legna is dedicated to advocating for the rights and needs of marginalized migrant workers. Both organizations have been working tirelessly since the outbreak of the war but can only continue their work as long as they have sufficient donations available.
