    About this project

Andrea H. from RAA Sachsen e.V. is responsible for this project
Recently, the new memorial site for Patrick Thürmer, which was ceremoniously inaugurated in August, was destroyed. The memorial plaque, which served as a tribute to him, was stolen just before our annual commemoration. However, we refuse to be discouraged and remain committed to keeping Patrick Thürmer's memory alive.

Why is this memorial site important?
Patrick Thürmer was only 17 years old when, on the night of October 1st to 2nd, 1999, he was brutally beaten by neo-Nazis at the entrance to Uhligmühle in Hohenstein-Ernstthal after returning home from a punk concert. He was thrown into a stream and succumbed to his severe injuries the next morning in the hospital. The memorial site near the scene of the crime serves as a reminder of this cruel act and stands as a symbol against right-wing violence.

The history of the memorial site
The struggle for a permanent memorial site for Patrick Thürmer has been ongoing for many years. After the original memorial plaque in Hohenstein-Ernstthal was repeatedly destroyed, donations allowed for a new plaque to be placed in Oberlungwitz, which was inaugurated in August. Unfortunately, within just a few weeks, this new plaque also fell victim to vandalism and was stolen—ironically, on the night before our memorial event on October 3rd. It is heartbreaking that even places of remembrance are not safe from disrespect and right-wing destruction.

Our goal: A secure memorial site
We will not give up on commemorating Patrick, and we aim to establish a new memorial site that is better protected against destruction.

For this, we need your support!
Our work as a memorial initiative is voluntary, and the funding for the new memorial site is only possible through the commitment of civil society. Please donate so that we can restore the memorial site for Patrick Thürmer and send a strong message against right-wing violence!

Help us keep the memory of Patrick Thürmer alive and preserve a dignified commemoration.
