Play, learn, grow: a safe place for Filipino orphans

 In January, we aim to bring joy to children’s faces: At the Bata ng Calabnugan Orphanage in the Philippines, we plan to design play and experience areas for the young residents, while helping them gain valuable life skills through experiences with nature and culture. Together with our partners, we want to create opportunities for environmental education and agricultural development. Your donations will make this possible! 

We aim to create a sustainable, child-friendly environment at the orphanage. With your help, we want to offer children a safe space to play, learn, and grow. Additionally, we aim to establish sustainable farming systems that support self-sufficiency and teach the children valuable knowledge about nature and the environment. 

The orphanage faces significant challenges. Alongside the general struggles of poverty in the Philippines — like inadequate infrastructure and limited access to education and healthcare — the orphanage itself lacks resources for improvement. The outdoor area is outdated, offering the children few safe opportunities to develop and play. 

We are helping the children who find not only a home in this facility but also hope for a brighter future. By redesigning the outdoor space and developing a sustainable educational approach, we give them more than just a playground; we provide a chance to acquire practical skills that will serve them throughout their lives. 

1. Outdoor Area Design: We will create play, learning, and relaxation areas tailored to the children’s needs. 

2. Sustainable Gardening: We’ll enable self-sufficiency for the orphanage. The children will learn eco-friendly farming practices. 

3. Educational Program: A horticultural therapist will conduct workshops to support the children’s mental health and foster awareness of nature and sustainability.
