About this project
The aims of the SuperCup ‘UMOJA NI NGUVU’ are to
- create more opportunities for the sport of handball,
- provide a platform for talented players
- promote sporting and social skills,
- promote environmental awareness through sustainable practices such as recycling,
- educate about alcohol & drug abuse and
- convey a sense of community & belonging
PLAY HANDBALL is supporting this project by advising, financially supporting and empowering Go For Goals to organise an inclusive handball education tournament in the spirit of the Play Handball SuperCup. We have already donated equipment to enable the preparation of the tournament and our volunteer Lina has been on site since June. She is helping the local team with handball training in schools, but also with the realisation of the tournament. ‘Go for Goals’ is the driver that implements sporting measures to strengthen the community according to local needs. Through this project, we are pleased to support ‘Go For Goals’ in creating joy, education and prospects for young people in Tanzania with and through handball.
PLAY HANDBALL is a non-profit sports and youth development organisation that focuses on the team sport of handball. Handball is our tool to empower, teach social skills, promote education and create opportunities for social growth for individuals and the community. In Tanzania, our reliable partner at grassroots level is the ‘Go For Goals’ Sports Centre. Our common goal is to develop handball programmes, create sustainable and continuous sports structures (such as tournaments and leagues) and train coaches in order to promote children and young people in Tanzania both athletically and personally and to create a strong community. In addition to the SuperCup, we would like to provide support in the form of equipment and further training for coaches.
