About this project

Dr. Sarah B. Koroma from Edtextain e.V. is responsible for this project
Dear friends and supporters,

We warmly invite you to participate in an important initiative aimed at empowering community journalists in Sierra Leone with essential digital and basic reporting skills necessary for their success in the modern world. These journalists are the backbone of their communities and play a crucial role in disseminating news and information. Your support can make a significant difference!

About the Project

The project "Empowering Digital Competence of Community Journalists in Sierra Leone" aims to equip 50 community journalists with the digital skills and tools they need to enhance their effectiveness. Through training sessions, provision of technology, and ongoing support, these journalists will be empowered to produce high-quality news and better inform their communities.

Goals of the Fundraising Campaign

  1. Digital Training: Conducting 4 workshops and training programs to impart basic and advanced digital competencies.
  2. Technology Provision: Supplying laptops, smartphones, cameras, and software essential for journalistic work.
  3. Long-term Support: Establishing a mentoring and support network to assist journalists continuously.

Implementation

The first phase of this project will be implemented over a one-year period starting in November 2024, in collaboration with the organization MeduTechd - www.medutechd.org - and in partnership with local media organizations in Sierra Leone.

Why Your Support Matters

Your donation will help us equip these journalists with the resources and skills they need to continue and expand their vital work. With your support, we can:

  • Improve the quality of reporting: Modern technology and proper training will enable journalists to conduct better research and reporting.
  • Ensure access to reliable information: Well-trained journalists contribute to ensuring communities have access to accurate and trustworthy information.
  • Empower community voices: Community journalists play a critical role in representing and articulating the needs and concerns of their communities.
We sincerely appreciate your support.
