Donations instead of flowers - support GoAhead! for our 17th birthday!

This year, we are celebrating a special anniversary – our 17th year!

Our Go Ahead! story began in 2005 in South Africa. Confronted with extreme poverty and HIV/AIDS during a volunteer service, six young people from Germany organized a tour of the South African artist group Young Zulu Warriors through Germany and the Netherlands. The donations collected were used to finance school fees for children in South Africa.

Inspired by this success, they founded Go Ahead! on May 26, 2007. Since then, we have been dedicated to the education and support of children and young people. Thanks to your generous support, we have been able to transfer €1,703,936.06 to our partner organizations since our founding, enabling numerous projects and providing countless young people with access to education. The help has enabled us to build schools, provide teaching materials, and support children on their educational journeys.

Together with local partner organizations in Sub-Saharan Africa – in our case, South Africa, Uganda, and Zambia – we break the cycle of material poverty, HIV/AIDS, and lack of access to education. Through various initiatives, we make it easier for young people in regions with high HIV/AIDS prevalence to access education, allowing them to shape their own futures: preschool and school education, after-school care, teacher training, and support for students transitioning to training and employment.

Lack of funding, rising food and material costs in our projects, and our conviction to pay a fair minimum wage to our employees are straining our financial situation. Internal reimbursement costs are also taking a toll and complicating our work.
