Free rental of cargo bikes in Leipzig

Since 2016, ADFC Leipzig e.V. has been offering two cargo bikes for free rental: Lara and Lore.

While Lara spends most of her time at information stands, Lore can be booked and borrowed unbureaucratically via the portal https://lara.adfc-leipzig.de/ge. And this is independent of your own wallet, because there are no fees for the two tricycles. In this way, we promote sustainable mobility from a social and societal perspective.

Over the last eight years, Lara and Lore have carried countless people and goods through Leipzig. The technology still does its job, but they are now clearly marked by years of use. That's why it's time for a makeover. We have already started with a new wooden box for Lore, and further maintenance and renovation work will follow soon. The purchase of additional cargo bikes and the listing of the cargo bikes in a new, Saxony-wide ADFC rental portal are also being considered.

We would also like to expand our fleet to include a cargo e-bike – in line with demand for rental and personal use. In order to continue operating and developing the “Free Cargo Bikes for Leipzig” project, we need support in the form of donations.

No matter whether it's 10, 50 or 100 euros, every amount helps. In total, we expect total costs of around €10,000 to bring our cargo bike fleet up to date and to purchase a new cargo e-bike.  We plan flexibly and will invest in the “Free Cargo Bike Rental” project depending on donations.
