Giving orphaned young children a future with health and education!

Sister Mary Esther FSJ, a Franciscan sister from the order of the Franciscan Sisters of St. Joseph, founded the Rangala Baby Home many years ago in Rangala, a small town 60 km north of Kisumu, in western Kenya.  A region where newborns are abandoned and left to their fate more often than anywhere else in the country. In the Baby Home, 40 newborns and small children receive the best possible care for the first three and a half years of their lives.
Six women work shifts to try to provide the children with the best possible care. There is no time for emotional affection. Disabled children particularly suffer from the lack of closeness and sometimes show pronounced symptoms of hospitalism. All of the children had a very bad start in life. We want to give them a hopeful future by making them mentally and physically motivated to find happiness in life.   The Baby Home has a 4 x 6 m outdoor concrete pavement area that serves as a playground for the children. However, there are no toys to stimulate children's mental and motorical development. There is also a lack of financial resources for medical treatment for the children.
A play area for the crawling children, a slide, a climbing frame, small toys and picture books would certainly give the children great joy, motivate them and could free them from their sadness. The children's dining and lounge area also urgently needs new tables and chairs and colorful walls. Donate now and give the children health and education for a self-determined future!
