About this project

Daniel M. from BOS Deutschland e.V. is responsible for this project
We’re moving!
An entire rescue station is changing its address. Our Nyaru Menteng Conservation Center is relocating to a neighboring property that is larger and offers more opportunities. A new home is being created for over 250 orangutans. The heart of the project – the new Forest School – was completed in March 2025, thanks to your support. Thank you so much for that!
Now, the next step is underway: the orangutan clinic, which is being built from the ground up.

What will the new orangutan clinic consist of?

  • Microbiology laboratory: Equipped with an attached autopsy room, it will allow us to analyze medical samples and investigate deaths more promptly and accurately on-site.
  • Quarantine area: Divided into spaces for newly rescued babies (even with a playground on the terrace!) as well as for older orangutans scheduled for eventual release back into the wild.
  • Surgical area: Where we will treat orangutans in acute emergency situations. It includes an operating room, an X-ray room, storage spaces for medications and food, offices, and staff facilities such as a kitchen and overnight accommodations.

A place of hope

The BOS Foundation’s orangutan clinic is not just a place for medical treatment. It is also a place of hope, new beginnings, and second chances. Here, rescued orangutans receive their first treatment upon arrival, and rehabilitated orangutans undergo their final checkups before being released into the wild. In between, there are many years of deworming, routine checkups, and emergencies such as broken bones, colds, and other infections.
