About this project

Sabine Maus from Kindervilla Fruchtallee e.V. is responsible for this project
The parents' organisation "Kindervilla Fruchtallee e.V." has been running an inclusive daycare centre in Hamburg Eimsbüttel for more than 30 years.
50 children, around a quarter of whom have special needs, play, learn and laugh together in an old pastorate building in a green oasis in the centre of the city. The families and the educational team are committed to inclusive coexistence and to the visibility and support of children with special needs and their families.
Then 8 years ago came the shock - the organisation's lease was cancelled. The search for a new location took many years - a building project that had already been planned failed, and the rental properties that were found could not be used because the building and fire safety requirements for daycare centres could not be implemented.
The association and the "KiVi community" left no stone unturned and approached the administration, politicians and the public with many creative campaigns. How can it be that such an important inclusive institution as KiVi is on the brink of collapse?
At the beginning of this year, an (interim) solution emerged just before the deadline (as the lease ends in August 2024):
The association will be able to rent an empty school pavilion in the neighbourhood from the summer - at least for 5 years. The remodelling costs will have to be covered by association funds.

Has the KiVi been saved?
For the time being yes, there is of course a BUT
KiVi has been saved, but the new building can only accommodate 30 children instead of 50.
KiVi has been saved, but we can only stay for 5 years. We are hoping for the completion of a new building project that includes KiVi as a tenant.
KiVi is saved, but still needs support to cover the rebuilding costs!
We would like to thank ALL KiVis, alumni, friends and supporters who have protested with us and helped to ensure that KiVi will continue to exist!

We are hoping for financial support from sponsors in the neighbourhood to create a beautiful new home for our KiVi children!
